The study aims to explore the level of practicing academic freedom of faculty members at the Scientific and Humanitarian Colleges of Qatar University. It also, heads to identify differences in the views of faculty members in relation to variables; sex, college type, academic level, and university in which the faculty member graduated. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers prepared a 43-item questionnaire covering four areas; namely: teaching, scientific research, community service, and university participation in decision-making. The tool was applied to a sample (n=327) of faculty members. Results showed that the level of academic freedom exercised by faculty members in the scientific and human faculties at Qatar University was moderate, and that the highest area of freedom was exercised in the field of community service. However, the level of practicing academic freedom in the field of scientific research and participation in decision making was moderate. In light of these findings, the researchers recommended the development of the regulations of the University of Qatar to provide responsible academic freedom to faculty members, especially in the field of scientific research and participation in university decision-making.
