The study aimed to identify the relationship between the level of counseling services and the level of pessimism among mothers of intellectually disabled children in Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also aimed to reveal the level of counseling services, the level of pessimism among mothers of intellectually disabled children, the differences in the level of pessimism for the variable (academic qualification) and the impact of the economic level on the level of counseling services. This study was applied on a sample consisting of (130) mothers of intellectually disabled children. The researcher used the counseling service scale and the pessimism scale of mothers of intellectually disabled children. The study revealed that the level of counseling services for mothers of intellectually disabled children was high. The social dimension ranked first, followed by the educational dimension, and the psychological and therapeutic dimensions ranked last. It also revealed that the level of pessimism for mothers of intellectually disabled children was very low. It showed that there was a negative statistically significant correlational relationship between the total score and the sub-axes of the counseling services scale and the overall degree of the pessimism scale. It revealed that there were statistically significant differences of (0.05) in the level of pessimism among mothers of intellectually disabled children in intellectual disability centers attributing the variable (scientific qualification) to the benefit of the secondary category and what was below. It showed that counseling services weren't affected by the economic level of mothers of intellectually disabled children in intellectual disability centers. Finally, it showed that the degrees of pessimism among mothers of intellectually disabled children could be predicted from the level of counseling services. (Published abstract)
