There are many recent and contemporary trends in the field of care and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, all of which aim to achieve more care, protection and rehabilitation for this group, which, until the present time, does not obtain all its rights in the full, required and expected manner. Among the most important of these trends, we mention: 1) Increasing international, regional and national interest in caring for and rehabilitating persons with disabilities. 2) Staying away from labels burdened with negative judgments towards the category of persons with disabilities. 3) Increasing the responsibility and role of society in reducing disability and dealing with it. 4) Increasing serious attempts to integrate persons with disabilities into society. 5) Appreciating and encouraging the family’s role in achieving better care and rehabilitation processes for people with disabilities. 6) Using technology to develop the educational process for people with disabilities. 7) Using technology to develop assistive devices and prosthetic devices for people with disabilities. 8) Taking into account the movement and lifestyle of persons with disabilities in the design and implementation of housing in general and public places and buildings and governmental institutions in particular. 9) Commitment to the team work style in achieving integrated care for people with disabilities. 10) Paying attention to the application of ISO 26000 standard on social responsibility in the field of care and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. 11) Paying attention to the application of total quality management standards on programs and services of all kinds that are provided to persons with disabilities. 12) The emergence of modern or recent systems, institutions and services for the care and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. 13) Increasing attention to the rights of persons with disabilities, and putting in place mechanisms to ensure that they obtain these rights. The current research has shed light on some of these trends, as an example of these recent trends in the field of care and rehabilitation for those with disabilities, from the perspective of the social work profession and the special education profession.
