دور أنشطة الفنون اللاصفية في دعم الجوانب الأكاديمية والاجتماعية والنفسية بمؤسسات التعليم العالي في سلطنة عمان
The current study aims to investigate the roles of Art Extracurricular Activities in promoting and supporting the academic, social and psychological aspects in the Higher Education Institutions in Sultanate of Oman. The sample of the study consisted of 331 students 111 males and 220 females, chosen randomly from four higher education institutions in Oman. For the purpose of achieving the objectives of the study, the researchers developed an 80-item questionnaire divided into three main axes: Academic, social & psychological, and its validity and reliability were established. Results showed that the important roles of Art Extracurricular Activities in promoting and supporting the academic, social and psychological domains in the Higher Education Institutions are highly estimated with means rated between 3.89 to 4.00. Results also indicated statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the study sample members regarding the roles of Art Extracurricular Activities in promoting and supporting the academic, social and psychological aspects in the Higher Educa¬tion Institutions due to type of institution in favor of the private institutions as well as in favor of female students. Results also revealed there were no statistically significant differences among the sample responses in all three sections due to the year of study and type of accommodations in two dimensions; namely: academic & social. No statistically significant differences were found as of type of accommodation regarding the psychological aspect favoring on- campus accommodation. Recommendations were cited regarding promoting and supporting the academic, social and psychological roles of such activities. (Published abstract)
