The study aimed to present proposed mechanisms to benefit from the virtual research teams, in order to support university alliances, and the continuity of international interaction between universities in research performance. Therefore, the study relied on the descriptive and analytical approach, which is employed in dealing with the theoretical foundations related to international alliances in the research performance of universities represented in their philosophy, objectives, justifications and types, and to clarify the nature of virtual research teams in terms of their principles, objectives, requirements, stages of construction and the challenges they face. Then came a statement of the features of the role of virtual research teams in supporting international alliances in the research performance of contemporary universities, through: Presenting three of the experiences of international universities in applying virtual research teams in their research performance within the framework of international alliances between these universities and other parties, and devising the most important roles The virtual research teams perform in support of international alliances of universities, by analyzing the theoretical framework of the study and from the practices of international universities. Then came an analysis of the reality of international alliances in the research performance of Egyptian universities, by presenting the efforts made to establish international alliances in the research performance of Egyptian universities, and the obstacles to benefiting from international alliances in the research performance of Egyptian universities. The study ended with the presentation of three proposed mechanisms to benefit from the virtual research teams' approach in achieving support for university alliances in the research performance of Egyptian universities, in addition to the requirements for implementing these mechanisms in line with the Egyptian reality from the point of view of some experts and specialists in educational administration and university education.
