The aim of the study is to present the effect size (practical significance) as a complementary method to examine the statistical hypotheses by clarifying some statistical indicators that are used to point out the value of the effect size in the case of statistical methods (T-test, F, k2). It also focused on presenting the concept of the effect size and its importance in covering the shortcomings of research hypotheses due to the reliance on traditional statistical methods, and to highlight their role in rationalizing of decisions on research hypotheses in general. This study has been applied to a sample of magister and doctoral research in psychology and education sciences in the Algerian university, which consists of 347 researches with (5123) hypotheses, through which the researcher found that the most common tests of statistical significance is the (T-test), and that the proportion of reference in this research to the effect size is very weak, while there is some agreement between the decisions of statistical significance and practical significance. Furthermore, the impact sizes extracted from these tests are weak, it was also found that there were statistically significant differences between the levels of the effect size depending on the type of research and its scientific degree, but this difference is not practical significant.
