The aim of this study is to examine the impact of using of science fiction films in teaching the unit of genetics in developing of scientific thinking and creative thinking among the 10th grade students in the light of their motivation towards learning the life sciences the 10th course in Jordan. The study sample selected consisted of 51 students from two sections grade class at the University of Jordan school. The two groups were randomly of the 10th distributed to an experimental group taught using science fiction films and a control group taught in the traditional method. Three measures were developed as follows: motivation questionnaire, scientific thinking test and creative thinking measure. The validity of the three instruments has been verified and their reliability has been calculated by using the Cronbach's alpha equation. To test the hypotheses, multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) was used. The results revealed that there were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) due to the impact of the teaching method using science fiction films in all dimensions of scientific thinking except the dimension of the determining the problem and the total degree, where the differences came in favor of the teaching method that used science fiction films. The study also showed that there were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) due to the impact of the teaching method using science fiction films in all dimensions of creative thinking except the dimension of the sensitivity of the problems and the total degree, where the differences came in favor of the teaching method of using science fiction films. In addition, the study showed that there were no statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) due to the impact of interaction between the study. The teaching method and motivation in all dimensions and the total degree recommended further studies and research on the use of science fiction films as a teaching method. (Author's abstract)
