This paper shall focus on explaining the major method used in teaching Arabic literature by ancient Nigerian scholars, and the common subjects taught by them, in order to examine its effect on creating literary work, and its perfectness with their society. More so, this research will shed a lime light on the modern style of teaching Arabic literature in formal schools of learning, to know how far the formal method has gone in correct some of lapses noted in old one, and how itself can stay affirm or in other word, continue to develop by introducing more mechanism, in order to cope with new challenges facing Arabic literate through lack of creativity, in-compliance with society needs, and old age syllabus which need to be reviewed. Among the findings is that, there are some similarity between both methods, the new method shall help a lot in developing talents of creativity, which old school can lend from, and also it should make more efforts in terms of familiarizing and memorizing of literary texts, which is the one of the strong points of the ancient style of learning in Nigeria.
