The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of job satisfaction on employees performance in archives services of universities of the wilayas of Algeria and Blida and to show how the functional and organizational factors affected their job satisfaction. We used the descriptive analytical approach that is consistent with the nature of the study; the questionnaire is designed as an information gathering tool, and distributed to 63 employees in archives services of universities in question, from which only 49 were collected. The results of the study showed that most employees in archives services of universities are not satisfied about: the wage obtained, the performance bonuses, the basis for the promotion applied, the environmental conditions available for work, however, they confirmed that they switch great efforts at work and keep coming to work on time, while a large percentage of them confirmed their job satisfaction in terms of having a good relationship with management as well as with their colleagues at work. Finally, the study presented forward several proposals to increase the level of job satisfaction of employees, the most important of which are: restoring consideration to the archivist profession, through the attention of those responsible of the archives services to improve the working conditions of the employees and submit them with material and moral incentives. This will help to reinforce their sense of stability at work and improve the quality of their performance. (Published abstract)
