The study aimed at recognizing the effectiveness of using analogy in teaching science on 6 th graders female students acquiring of scientific concepts and developing their critical thinking skills in Mafraq governorate compared to the traditional method of teaching. The researcher used a quasi-experimental design. The sample of the study consisted of 42 6th graders female students in two sections at Al Fdain basic school in Mafraq Directorate of Education. Those students were divided into two equal groups, one of them was experimental taught by Analogy, the other was control group taught by the traditional method during the second semester of scholastic school 2014-2015, to achieve the objectives of the study, the unit of the ‘cell’ was prepared and taught using analogy. A test was also prepared for acquiring scientific concepts and test for critical thinking skills in the unit of ‘cell’. The validity and reliability of the two tests were established. The findings of the study revealed that were statistically significant differences in female students mean scores in experimental group on acquiring scientific concepts test due to using analogy. It also revealed that there were statistically significant differences in female students mean scores in the experimental group on critical skills due to using analogy. On the basis of these results, it is recommended that teachers of science adopt analogy as a method of teaching science to the students of all grades. (Author’s abstract)
