The goal of this Scientifics research in to understand the application of TQM in higher education Khartoum stat it’s in role in promoting in verities education. This research investigated the role of the total quality management TQM in promoting the institutions of higher education at Khartoum State in 2013. The study aimed at investigating the TQM and its role in promoting the institutions of higher education, investigating its role in the strategic planning and its role in developing the performance of the academic staff. The population study represented the academic staff members that are drawn from the colleges of education and business studies at the SUST, who are aware about the issue of their development. The research problem is an attempt to examine the role that can be played by the total quality in the development of the higher education institutions focusing on the experience gained by Sudan University of science and technology SUST in its application of the total quality system. The research sample consists of 44, in which 33 represents males and 11 represents females, the samples have been chosen purposely, the questionnaire was adopted as a research tool and it has been administered to a number of academic staff to find out their views on the role of TQM in promoting the higher education, the research has used the descriptive method, the data have analyzed through the use of SPSS. The research has arrived at the following results: 1) the research findings have revealed the TQM played a role in the promotion of the institutions of higher education and it played a role in strategic planning. 2) The results have shown that the TQM has a role in the promotion of the efficiency of the academic staff. 3) The results have revealed that there statistically significant differences between the population samples which are attributed to the sex and experience in the development project and based on the research findings. 4) The research findings have revealed that the major hindrances of the application of TQM are the resistance to change couple with delay of top management in applying TQM in the educational system.
