Objectives: This study aimed to identify the required planning competencies for principles of secondary schools in Taif, perceived by educational supervisors. Methodology: The study followed a descriptive analytical method. Study tools: was formed in a questionnaire composed of two main parts, the first part of public information, and the second part consists of axes questionnaire, which included 50 items distributed on the functions exercised by the school principal regarding efficiencies of planning, preparation, diagnosis, and efficiencies of plan preparation and implementation, and efficiencies of follow-up and calendar school plan. Population: The study population consisted of 152 educational supervisors. Statistical methods: The researcher used Pearson correlation coefficient and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient to measure the reliability of tests, and used percentages, arithmetic means and standard deviation for the scores of application and practice. ANOVA methods were used for post comparison. Results of study: The most important results of the study are: 1) Results showed that the order of the dimensions of the planning competencies whole practice for planning was moderately average, and came Dimensions arranged in the order makes sense with the planning and preparation, diagnosis, and preparation and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. 2) Results showed that the degree of the ability of school administrators to develop alternative plans in case of changing the master plan, and to identify the gap between reality and the vision of the school, according to the plans above, and the announcement of the results of the planning progress on the staff of the school to continuously analyze the internal and external environment of the school came all low-grade arithmetic average of the total. According to the field of preparation and implementation. Recommendations: The most important recommendations are summarized as follows: 1) The necessary of raising the efficiencies of school administrators that show weakness in the field preparation and implementation. 2) The necessary of training principles in specialized consulting firms on the skills of planning in general, strategic planning, in particular. 3) The necessary of reviewing the training courses for supervisors.
