Flexible thinking represents the human's ability to work out of the ordinary human thinking process and to respond to it through out looking to the thinks and problems from different angles and methods on one hand, and the use of cognitive Motivation is to re-build and organize life situations clearly and in a more integrated manner on the other hand. The current research targeted: 1(Measuring the flexible thinking among university students. 2(The comparison in flexible thinking according to variable of the gender (Males – Females). 3(The comparison in flexible thinking according to variable of the specialization (scientific – Humanitarian). 4) Measuring the cognitive Motivation among university students. 5(The comparison in cognitive Motivation according to variable of the gender (Males- Females). 6(The comparison in cognitive Motivation according to variable of the specialization (scientific – Humanitarian). 7( Finding the relationship between flexible thinking and cognitive motivation among the university students. In order to achieve the objectives of this research, researcher has built the flexible thinking test and the measure of the cognitive motivation after extraction their validity and reliability and the discriminatory force of their paragraphs, as well as the relationship of the paragraph with the overall total for each one of the two instruments. After the application of these instruments on a sample of 480 university students who were selected stratified random with equal choice, and from six colleges at the university of Baghdad which they are: college of Pharmacy, college of Engineering, college of Science, college of arts, college of Languages, and college of Management and Economy, and distributed evenly according to the gender variable and specialty, the researcher also found after processing the data statistically by using T-test for one sample, two independent samples and person's correlation coefficient to the results: 1( The university students are characterized the ability of flexible thinking. 2( The Males and females of the university students are not differ in flexible thinking. 3( The students of scientific and humanitarian departments do not differ in flexible thinking. 4( All university students are characterized with cognitive motivation. 5( The Males and females of the university students are not differ in cognitive motivation. 6( The students of scientific and humanitarian departments do not differ in cognitive motivation. 7(There is a positive relationship between flexible thinking and cognitive motivation among University students. According to the results of this research, the researcher came out with many recommendations and proposals. (Published abstract)
