The study aimed at identifying the in- service training needs from the point of view of basic education teachers in Khartoum state. The reseacher used a descriptive analytical method. The population of study is teachers of the basic education in Khartoum state. A random sample of 160 teachers was selected from a total of 23709 teachers. Open interview and questionnaire were used to collect the required data. Reliability of the research tools was measured through expert validation and SpearmanBrown equation. The research findings revealed that the most important needs for in service training from the perspective of basic school teachers were: educational psychology, developmental psychology, teaching methods, in addition to training in the areas of academic and cultural specializations. Moreover, a time gap is a necessity between training courses. There are financial and administrative constraints which hinder the implementation of in service training. Eventually, a number of recommendations were suggested, besides a number of future research projects. (Published Abstract)
