فاعلية برنامج معرفي في تنمية مهارات التنظيم الذاتي والعمليات التنفيذية ومهارات الفهم القرائي لدى طلبة الصف السادس ذوي صعوبات القراءة في مدينة عمان
The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a cognitive program based on developing self-regulation skills, executive processes and understanding skills for sixth grade students with reading difficulties in Amman. To this end, the researcher prepared two scales: the first one is to measure self-regulation skills, a scale for executive operations. The second one is a test for reading comprehension. The validity and reliability indications of the three tools were verified. A cognitive program was built to develop self-regulation skills and executive processes to improve reading comprehension for students with reading difficulties. The researcher applied the tools of the study on a sample that included (80) students in the sixth grade, who were selected using the accessible sample method. They were distributed into two groups, the experimental group, which consisted of (40) students, and the control group, which consisted of (40) students, having reading difficulties in the classroom. They were selected from (8) public schools affiliated to the University District Education Directorate in the capital, Amman, during the first semester of the academic year (2022-2023). The findings of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group in the pre and post measurements on the self-regulation scale, the executive operations scale, and the reading comprehension test in the city of Amman. As such, the researcher recommended the employment of selfregulation skills and executive processes in elementary schools to develop the levels of reading comprehension, which are beneficial to raise the academic level of these students.
