The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a story-based training program on improving the linguistic and safety skills for a sample of the intellectually disabled. The researcher used the quasi-experimental method. The study population contained students from the intellectual education school (the educable) in Kafr El-Sheikh, purposive sample consisting of (18) students who were equally divided into control group and experimental group. The study tools included the linguistic Skills Scale (Prepared by the researcher), the Adaptive Behavior Scale, translated by Ahmed Abu Zeid and Jaber Abdullah(2013), in addition to the program prepared by the researcher to verify the effectiveness of a story-based training program on improving the linguistic and Safety skills with for a sample of intellectually disabled. The most important results of the study: 1) There are statistically significant differences between the mean grades of the experimental group and the control group on the linguistic skills scale after applying the training program for the experimental group. 2) There are statistically significant differences between the mean grades of the experimental group and the control group on the adaptive behavior scale (health and safety dimension) after applying the training program for the experimental group. 3) There are statistically significant differences between the mean grades of the experimental group pupils in the pre and post measurement on the linguistic skills scale and the adaptive behavior scale (health and safety dimension) in favor of post measurement after applying the training program.
