The aim of the research was to develop critical reading skills among first-year secondary school students using an enrichment unit for reading activities based on the reciprocal teaching strategy. Sample: Selected first-year secondary school students in schools in Port Said Governorate. The research revealed the following results: The effectiveness of the proposed unit based on the reciprocal teaching strategy in developing critical reading skills among the first-year secondary school students in the research sample. A statistically significant difference was found at the significance level (α ≤0.01) between the average scores of the experimental group in the pre-test and post-test of the critical reading skills test as a whole. The researcher recommended: The need to focus on Arabic language skills, particularly critical reading skills. The need to train teachers on using the enrichment unit for reading activities in teaching, given its significant impact on developing students' skills, encouraging them, and increasing their motivation. The need to prepare guides to guide secondary school Arabic language teachers on how to develop critical reading skills. (Published abstract)
