The study aimed to examine the level of alignment of intermediate first grade mathematics textbooks with the “Mathematical Communication” standard, one of the national standards for mathematics learning. The study employed a descriptive content analysis method, focusing exclusively on Grade 7 mathematics textbooks used in Saudi Arabia for the academic year 1446–1447 AH, including all three semesters (first, second, and third), totaling three textbooks. The study tool consisted of a content analysis checklist developed based on the national curriculum standards for general education. The findings revealed that the degree of alignment of the Grade 7 mathematics textbooks with the “Mathematical Communication” standard was moderate across all three semesters, with closely related percentages of 38%, 38%, and 39%, respectively. The quality of alignment ranged between moderate and high, with average scores of 2.32, 2.34, and 2.50, respectively. Based on these results, the study presented several recommendations and suggestions, most notably the need to ensure a balanced distribution of mathematical communication processes within the textbook content, in line with the nature of the mathematical topics and the students’ developmental stage.
