أثر برنامج رياضي في الحد من أعراض الإكتئاب وتحسين الرفاهية النفسية : دراسة شبه تجريبية لدى عينة من طلبة الجامعة
This study aimed to know the effect of Physical Activity on reducing the degree of depression and improving psychological well-being to Sultan Qaboos University female students through physical program was prepared for this study. The sample of the study was (33) female studentswith varying levels of psychological stress including depressive symptoms (ages 21.2 ± 2.8). The participants were divided into two groups: The experimental (N = 18), and control (N = 13). The subjects of the experimental group participated in an 8-week program of moderately intensive physical activity 3 times a week, while their counterparts in the control group were not subjected to any kind of interventions. Depression symptoms and mental wellbeing were measured before and after the sports activities sessions Multivariate analysis revealed that there is a significant effect (p < .05) of the independent variable (group: experimental vs control) on the dependent variables as a group (depressive symptoms and mental wellbeing), but when we looked at each of the independent variables separately using univariate analysis, we found that the effect was significant only on the depressive symptoms and didn’t affect psychological wellbeing. The result of the study showed participation in a moderate-intensity sports activities program two to three times per week might reduce light and moderate depressive symptoms. (Published abstract)
