أثر تدريس مادة الرياضيات باستخدام نموذج الفورمات (4mat) في تنمية الدافعية العقلية : دراسة تجريبية على عينة من تلاميذ السنة الثالثة متوسط بمدينة ورقلة
This study aims at investigating the effect of teaching mathematics using the 4Mat Mc Karthy model in developing rational motivation and its dimensions (mental concentration, tendency towards learning, creative problems solving and knowledge integrity) among middle school third class year students. Furthermore, the study aimed at identifying the relationship between mental motivation and gender after implementation of the 4Mat Mc Karthy model. To reach such targets, we used the experimental method with a quasi-experimental design (pretest/ posttest design non randomized- control groups). The study is conducted at Ben Badis Middle School, located in Ouargla, Algeria. The study sample is composed of two groups randomly selected among four groups. One of the two groups was selected as a test group composed of 08 students to whom the 4Mat Mc Karthy model in teaching mathematics was applied. The second group was selected as a control group composed of 17 students who studied mathematics according to the method approved by ministerial procedure. The study data were gathered using Faradji Mental Motivation Module, composed of 60 items. After calculation of its psychometric aspects through its implementation on an 80 students study sample, randomly selected among middle school third class year students, the module is now containing 34 items and 04 dimensions, where: the mental concentration dimension contains 08 items, the tendency towards learning dimension 06 items, the creative problems solving 10 items and the knowledge integrity dimension 10 items. The tool is implemented before and after introduction of the independent variable (the 4Mat Mc Karthy model). Implementation of the said method took 04 weeks. In order to assess the study two hypotheses, data were treated using SPSS 20 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) to calculate difference between the two test and control groups in matter of mental motivation pre-test measurement. The study findings have shown that teaching mathematics using the 4Math Mc Karthy model resulted in developing mental motivation among the study sample students. However, the results showed no gender significant differences among boys and girls of the mental motivation experimental group. Study results are explained within the theoretical part of this study in the light of the study sample cultural dimensions, psychological characteristics, and school environment.
