This study aimed to know the effectiveness of a counseling program to raise the degree of self-control among a sample of behaviorally disturbed pupils, to achieve the objectives of the study we used the experimental method. The study sample included twenty pupils in the fourth year of primary school different in the gender, who were behaviorally disturbed, in the municipality of Ouargla. They were selected after applying the behavioral disorders scale and the self-control scale. The pupils were among the highest in behavioral disorders and the lowest in self-control, we also relied on the two scales mentioned for this purpose in collecting data and arranged the pupils in descending order according to the degree of self-control, then distributed them into two homogeneous groups, controller and experimental, each consisting of ten pupils. The psychometric properties of these two tools were confirmed in the exploratory study. The collected data was statistically analyzed to test the study hypotheses, leading to the following results: 1) There are statistically significant differences between the experimental and control group in self-control in favor of the experimental group. 2) There are statistically significant differences between the experimental and control group in self-monitoring in favor of the experimental group. 3) There are statistically significant differences between the experimental and control group in self-affirmation in favor of the experimental group. 4) There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in self-control. 5) There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in self-monitoring. 6) There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in self-affirmation. 7) There is no interaction between program and gender variables in self-control. 8) There is no interaction between the program and gender variables in the self-monitoring. 9) There is no interaction between the program and gender variables in self-affirmation. The results were presented, analyzed and discussed through the previous studies that dealt with the subject. (Author’s abstract)
