The research examined the impact of cooperative learning on improving the performance of the chest pass skill in basketball among students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Anbar. The experimental method was applied to a sample consisting of first-year students, divided into two groups: an experimental group that utilized the cooperative learning approach and a control group that followed the traditional method. The results revealed a significant improvement in the technical performance and skill retention of the experimental group compared to the control group. The researchers concluded that cooperative learning enhances student interaction and boosts self-confidence, which contributes to improved performance levels. The study included the design of an educational curriculum based on the cooperative learning approach, incorporating instructional units aimed at achieving active student participation and enhancing their leadership roles within their groups. Statistical analyses showed significant differences between pre- and post-tests in favor of the experimental group. The research emphasized the importance of adopting modern educational methods that rely on collaboration as an effective means to achieve sustainable learning and the acquisition of fundamental skills. The researchers recommended integrating cooperative learning into curricula for novice students in sports education, with a focus on class organization and guiding students toward achieving educational objectives innovatively.
