Is teaching an art or a science? The debate around this question lasted a long time before most opinions agreed to consider it a dialectical process in which multiple types of knowledge interact. However, educational sciences have not been able to follow this trend and have not yet managed to free themselves from the model of pure "scientism," which reduces all areas of human life to scientific knowledge alone without opening up to the arts and their contribution. In this context, this synthetic study seeks to go beyond the mechanical approach, which reduces teaching to the application of scientific theories and knowledge, to orient the pedagogical discussion towards the need to combine scientific and technical knowledge in the educational process. To achieve this objective, the study adopted the descriptive analytical approach to trace the historical and philosophical relationship between music and education through the ages and to highlight the cognitive integration between sciences and arts. The study also highlights modern trends that open new horizons for investing in music to improve and enhance educational practices. (Published abstract)
