The study aimed to measure the impact of filtering the ideas’ strategy for teaching English on developing speaking skills and reading comprehension of the basic fifth-grade female students. The semi-experimental methodology was used in this study. The participants of this study consisted of two groups: an experimental group taught by using the filtering ideas according to the idea filtering strategy, and a control group taught by using the taught by using the usual method. The total sample of the participants was (59) students, divided into (29) students for the experimental group,] and (30) students for the control group. To achieve the objectives of the study, two tests were developed: speaking skills test and reading comprehension skills test. A guide for using the filtering ideas strategy was prepared. The results of the study showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the two experimental groups that were taught by using the filtering ideas strategy, and the scores of the control group that was taught by using the usual way on the speaking skills and reading comprehension tests in favor of the experimental group. In light of the results of the study, the researcher presented a number of recommendations. (Published abstract)
