نجاعة التدريس بالمهارات الحياتية في الأقسام المشتركة ثنائية المستوى بالتعليم الابتدائي
Common classrooms are an old global phenomenon, primarily targeting primary education, and was introduced to address some of the issues faced by educational systems, especially in rural areas, due to various considerations and characteristics that requires students to be taught in these types of classes. The number of multi-level classes has been increasing year by year, progressing from just two levels to six levels in one class. This leads to negative outcomes on the academic achievement of students and on the professional motivation of teachers. Teachers must put in extra efforts and planning to facilitate the education of students of different and varied ages and levels. Sometimes this involves working with the entire class to teach common topics, and other times, dividing the class into sub-groups according to student’s levels, ages, and the specific needs of each level, while supervising a distinguished student from each group. These groups need to possess a range of skills and abilities, that enable them to enhance communication between them, support one another, and make each student responsible for their learning. This requires a shift from focusing on the knowledge paradigm to the life skills paradigm to develop the personal, social, and professional skills needed for students to interact successfully within their groups and to adapt to various circumstances and challenges in their learning and daily life. This is what prompted the study to reveal the effectiveness of life skills while teaching in multi-level classrooms. To achieve this, we adopted a descriptive analytical approach. By reviewing, a set of official documents, educational literature, and reports issued by global organizations and initiatives while addressing these issues. The study concluded that building learnings in multi-level classrooms according to the life skills paradigm; adopting the skill of independence and self-learning, which are considered among the basics of building learnings in these classrooms, in addition to the skill of cooperative learning, the skill of working in groups, peer learning, etc. would ensure successful interaction between learners, and adaptation to the various circumstances and challenges that they may face in their school learning, and then in everyday life.
