The research aimed to assess the current state of life skills development in educational institutions in Qatar. The study utilized a descriptive methodology through two approaches: (1) document analysis and (2) survey method. A questionnaire was developed by the researcher to evaluate the state of life skills development in educational institutions in Qatar. The sample included (3) primary schools, (5) preparatory schools, (22) secondary schools, and (1) educational center. The research found discrepancies in the implementation of life skills development across schools under the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar, in light of the country’s sustainable development goals and modern trends in life skills development. The study identified two significant shortcomings: 1.Focus is primarily on grades 10 and 11, with insufficient attention to life skills in grades 1 through 10. This is based on the mistaken belief that educational competencies in the curriculum are sufficient for developing these skills, which is not the case, especially since most participants were unaware of the role of educational competencies in life skills development, negatively impacting the achievement of the intended goals. 2. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar heavily relies on direct methods for life skills development, which, while offering significant and cost-effective opportunities, are inadequate due to the diverse nature of life skills that require broader opportunities and experiences that may not be available in schools.
