فاعلية وحدة تعليمية قائمة على توظيف الموارد التعليمية المفتوحة في تعليم العلوم على تنمية الكفاءة المعرفية لدى طالبات المرحلة المتوسطة
The research aimed to develop an educational unit by utilizing Open Educational Resources (OER) and measure its effectiveness in enhancing cognitive competence among third-grade intermediate students. To achieve the research objectives and answer its questions, the researcher developed the educational unit using (ADDIE) instructional design model. To assess the effectiveness of the developed unit, the study adopted a quasi-experimental approach to evaluate the unit's impact considering OER integration. A test was employed to measure the domains of cognitive competence. The unit was implemented during the 1445 AH academic year on a sample of the research population represented by third-grade female students enrolled at the 85th middle school in Riyadh. The experimental group, consisting of 38 students, was selected from one of the four third-grade classes, while the control group, also comprising 38 students, was selected from another third-grade class. Both groups were randomly chosen from the four classes of third grade. The results of the research showed that there were statistically significant differences between the average scores of the students in the cognitive proficiency test. The results also showed the effectiveness and significant impact of the developed unit on developing the cognitive proficiency of the female students in the experimental group. Based on results, several recommendations and suggestions were made, including the development of educational units that employ open educational resources due to enhancing cognitive competency in the three targeted areas of the research. Further, it is recommended to study the impact of employing open educational resources on some variables related to science education and learning. (Published abstract)
