The research aimed to define the conceptual framework for the concept and development of the theory of communicative learning, and to clarify its significance in the learning process in the digital age, the contributions of the theory of communicative learning in promoting open learning for adults, as well as identifying the challenges and opportunities for applying the theory of communicative learning in open learning for adults. The research relied on the descriptive analytical research method based on reviewing and extracting topics to achieve these goals from previous relevant Arabic and foreign literature sources, including articles and books from search engines. The research results showed that the theory of communicative learning represents a modern educational framework that focuses on learning through digital networks and effective communication, which enhances interaction and information flow, and that the theory of communicative learning is essential in digital learning, as it supports the construction of personal learning networks, enhances independence and knowledge management, and the results indicated that the theory of communicative learning has a major role in open education for adults by enabling adult learners to build flexible learning networks that link digital and human resources. The most important applications of the theory of communicative learning in open education for adults are open training courses (MOOCs), personal learning networks, collaborative learning, and digital learning environments. The research results revealed the existence of challenges in applying the theory of communicative learning. In open education for adults, the digital gap and difficulty in accessing technology, and the lack of digital skills for some adult learners to interact in the digital environment, and the need for adults to be self-directed.
