The study aimed to investigate the predictive ability of emotional intelligence and mindfulness to academic engagement among female students at the University of Jeddah. The study sample consisted of (200) female students from scientific and humanities colleges. At the University of Jeddah, to achieve these goals, the emotional intelligence scale prepared by Abdel Hamid and Hussein (2013) and the mental alertness scale prepared by Abdullah and AlShamsi (2013), and the academic integration scale prepared by (Veiga, 2016) after verifying its psychometric properties. The results of the study showed that there are positive, statistically significant correlations between academic engagement and both mindfulness and its dimensions (vigilant discrimination, openness to newness, orientation towards the present, awareness of different points of view); Emotional intelligence and its dimensions (abilities within the individual, abilities specific to the individual’s relationship with others, ability to adapt, stress management, and general mood) among female university students. The results also showed that two dimensions of emotional intelligence are: (abilities within the individual and stress management) are able to predicting academic engagement, while the variables (abilities of the individual’s relationship with others, ability to adapt, and general mood) did not contribute statistically significantly to predicting academic engagement. The results also showed that two dimensions of mental alertness are: (attentive excellence and orientation toward the present) were able to predict academic engagement, while the variables (openness to new things and awareness of different points of view) did not contribute statistically significantly to predicting academic engagement.
