This study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a program based on the strategy of analogy in Arabic language in developing story writing skills among the 1st grade high school students. The sample comprised (64) male and female students. They were assigned into two matched groups. The first group was control consisting of (32) male and female students traditionally taught. The other group was experimental including (32) male and female students taught according to the strategy of analogy. The study was conducted during the first semester of the scholastic year 2020-2021 within Al-Shaheed Abdul-Wahab Gamal El-Din mixed school in Minya Al-Qamh educational district, Sharika. To achieve the study objectives, a checklist of story writing skills, a test of story writing skills and a story writing skills evaluation form were designed. Additionally, both student's book and teacher's guide were prepared. Administering the aforementioned tools, results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores obtained by the experimental and control groups on the post measurement of story writing skills (total score – subdimensions), in favor of the experimental group. There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores obtained by the experimental group on the pre- and post measurements of story writing skills (total score – subdimensions), in favor of the post measurement. There was also a great effect size of the program based on the strategy of analogy in developing story writing skills among the experimental group members compared their counterparts in the control one.
