The study aimed to identify the reality of effective leadership (strategic vision, planning, influence, evaluation) in education schools in the Asir region. It also aimed to identify the levels of requirements for developing school leaders (administrative and organizational requirements, technical requirements, material and human requirements) in light of effective leadership standards, Identifying the level of the proposed mechanisms for developing the performance of school leaders (training, preparing the plan, effective communication with employees). To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher used the descriptive analytical method, and the questionnaire was the study tool used in collecting data. The study sample consisted of (175) school leaders in the Asir region, who were chosen randomly. The study reached a set of results, the most important of which were: The level of effective leadership implementation (vision and strategy, planning, impact, evaluation) came to a large degree, and the results showed that the level of school leaders development requirements (administrative and organizational requirements, technical requirements, material and human requirements) in light of effective leadership standards was high. The level of approval of the proposed mechanisms for developing the performance of school leaders (training, preparation of the plan, effective communication with employees) in light of the standards of effective leadership was high. The study recommended the need for the school leader to take into account the teachers’ capabilities when formulating the objectives, and that the planning corresponds to the reality of the actual needs of the school, and that the planning be characterized by flexibility and feasibility for implementation common calendar formats.
