With the launch of many national strategic visions for many countries in our Arab world, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which supports the principles and goals of sustainable development, referred to by the United Nations, this trend was supported by holding the (Knowledge Summit 2019), under the slogan ( Knowledge to achieve sustainability) by investing in people, building their creative capabilities, stimulating innovation and spreading a culture of knowledge management at the institutional level. Therefore, knowledge management is currently considered one of the main factors that contribute to the growth and development of institutions through investing and developing their knowledge, as the success of applying knowledge management requires the existence of an organized model and mechanism to measure and determine the current state of the institution. The main objective of this study is to: measure the maturity of knowledge management in higher education institutions in the Kingdom according to (APQC) standards. To know the level of maturity in the organization, evaluate the current status of knowledge management in the organization, understand the status of the current application of knowledge management, identify strengths and weaknesses, and conclude the gap between the current status of the organization and its comparison with global standards. The content analysis approach was used, where the researcher collected information through the questionnaire tool. Analyze data, previous studies, and relevant models. To obtain a more comprehensive and broader picture, in addition to seeking assistance from a group of experts in the focus group consisting of academic specialists in knowledge management and other administrative leaders; To discuss the presentation of the proposed model, and to take into account their suggestions that contribute to shaping the proposed model, and with regard to the results; It was found that the maturity level of higher education institutions is at the third level with a score of (3.28) according to the five-point Likert scale. This means that the practice of knowledge management processes in educational institutions has become a tangible reality, and this level represents an achievement, as the transition from the second to the third level is the longest journey, and means that the institution has succeeded in passing the implementation and preparation of the institutional structure, and that the institution needs to move forward towards the level The highest level, and to support and motivate the management of higher education institutions, represented by senior management. The study recommended the need to adopt a special unit for knowledge management in the institution’s organizational structure, and to establish partnerships and cooperation with relevant parties that contribute to the development of the institution’s performance, and to ensure the promotion, adoption, development and preservation of knowledge in higher education institutions.
