The study aimed to identify the reality of practicing the dimensions of proactive leadership for academic leaders in the colleges of King Abdulaziz University. It used the descriptive survey method and the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information. The study population consisted of (6129) academic leaders, and a simple random sample of (245) leaders was selected. Academically, its results showed the following: that the reality of academic leaders’ practice of the dimensions of proactive leadership reached a high degree, and it also showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the function level (α ≤ 0.05) due to the variable (gender, job title, college). The study recommended many recommendations, including holding periodic meetings and dialogue sessions between academic leaders to share expertise and experience in dealing with various crises, establishing a communication committee that includes representatives of academic leaders and various departments of the university with the aim of facilitating communication and exchanging information, and implementing the mechanism of self-managed teams.
