The study aimed to identify the reality of practicing the dimensions of strategic vigilance among academic department leaders in some colleges at King Abdulaziz University. The descriptive survey method was employed, using a questionnaire as the data collection tool. It was applied to a random sample consisting of deans, vice-deans, heads, and supervisors of academic departments in some of the university's colleges. The results showed that the overall average for practicing strategic vigilance, and its five dimensions was at a moderate level from the perspective of the study sample. Educational vigilance was rated high, while organizational, environmental, technological, and competitive vigilance were rated moderate, respectively. The study concluded that there were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) between the responses of the study sample regarding the reality of practicing the dimensions of strategic vigilance, attributable to the variables of gender and college. The study recommended granting more authority to form partnerships and agreements at the college level and assigning academic department leaders to appoint a specialized team responsible for regularly updating the college’s website and departments, as well as establishing task management systems to monitor progress.
