Competencies in expressive writing skills by presenting and analyzing Iranian studies published in Arabic in order to identify the students’ true competencies, identify their weaknesses and work to identify them accurately in order to suggest appropriate solutions to develop their competencies in their expressive writing skills. For this purpose, the researchers investigated university dissertations, dissertations, and research papers published in Iranian periodicals and magazines from 2008 until 2022. These studies and research were analyzed, which almost agree on many aspects of deficiencies and weaknesses in the expressive writing skills of Iranian students. The researchers identified points of agreement. Between the studies and verifying them by presenting them to a group of experts and specialists in teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers, the study reached a set of conclusions and recommendations, including: 1) Most previous Iranian studies almost agree that the issue of the weakness of non-native Arabic language learners, especially Iranian students, in linguistic skills in general, and writing skills in particular, is a reality that cannot be denied, and modern strategies, programmers, methods and methods in teaching must be sought and applied to reduce the effects of this problem and reducing its effects on students. 2) Previous studies contributed to giving researchers a clear vision to initially define expressive writing skills, their importance in relation to other linguistic skills, defining their divisions and the foundations upon which they are based, and explaining the most important mistakes of Iranian students in expressive writing. 3) The results of the studies revealed that the most prominent errors of Iranian students when writing on a specific subject are grammatical, morphological, semantic, and spelling errors. For this reason, researchers see the necessity of adopting accurate rating lists to measure students’ writing performance and accurately know their levels. (Published abstract)
