This study aims to reveal the characteristics of the distribution of academic achievement levels for community college students at the Northern Border University, and also their differences according to gender, and academic department through examining the cumulative averages of 608 male and female students, distributed across three departments in the college during the second semester of the academic year (1441-1442 AH). A survey was used for 27 faculty members in the college in order to identify the reasons for students’ low academic achievement. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the measure of factors associated with low academic achievement for university students was used, prepared by Abu Hashim & Shalabi (2009). The results of the study indicated a decrease in academic achievement among community college students at the Northern Border University. Academic achievement scores were characterized by a normal distribution, with the existence of statistically significant differences between males and females in academic achievement, in favor of females. There were also statistically significant differences between students that were attributed to academic department, in favor of students from the department of General preparation, as the results indicated that the factors relating to the dimension of family circumstances, economic circumstances, and personal circumstances were the most prominent factors affecting the low academic achievement of community college students. It also indicated that there were no differences between the opinions of faculty members about the factors causing the low academic achievement of community college students attributed to gender, academic department, and number of years of experience.
