The study aimed to analyze high school Chemistry textbooks in the light of self-learning skills in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The tool of analysis consisted of self-learning skills. The author followed an analytical descriptive approach, and the analysis included only the first grade of high school textbook, 2019 edition. The analysis revealed that the self-learning skills were included in the Chemistry textbook for the first grade of secondary school in text, activities, and evaluation by 76%, 64%, and 59% respectively. The first chapter of the book receives more attention to self-learning skills than other chapters of the textbook. The most common skills included in the textbook were the skill of assisting students to connect chemical concepts with reality and incorporating examples and exercises that help students learn new chemical concepts. The most common skill included in the activities was the skill of including questions that require answers by students. The most frequent skills in the assessment were the skill of including various questions and the skill of including open-ended questions. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that the skill of self-learning be included intensively in the Chemistry textbook for the first grade of secondary school, especially in the third chapter.
