The study aimed to investigate the role of artificial intelligence applications in enhancing the performance of teachers in the Sultanate of Oman, with the researcher using ChatGPT as a model. Therefore, the study primarily aims to shed light on the use of artificial intelligence applications, particularly ChatGPT, in the educational process, the opportunities they provide, and the challenges facing their use in the education sector in Oman. The study seeks to answer several questions, including: What is meant by artificial intelligence, its importance, and characteristics? What opportunities does artificial intelligence and ChatGPT offer to teachers in Oman's education sector? What are the challenges facing the deployment of artificial intelligence applications in Oman's education sector? To achieve the study's purpose, the researcher used the descriptive-analytical method, which attempts to describe the phenomenon of the study subject; analyze its data; state the relationship between its components, opinions expressed about it, the processes involved, and the effects of using artificial intelligence technology in Oman's education sector. The researcher concluded several results, including the importance of employing artificial intelligence in the educational process to develop the performance of teachers in Oman. The application of ChatGPT is significantly important for teachers as it actively contributes to the execution of tasks efficiently, saving effort and time, including assisting teachers in lesson planning and implementation within the classroom. Additionally, there are several challenges to employing artificial intelligence applications in Oman's education sector that must be considered when deploying such applications. The researcher provided several recommendations, including drawing decisionmakers' attention to the importance of implementing artificial intelligence tools in education. Conducting workshops for teachers to familiarize them with how to employ artificial intelligence applications, especially ChatGPT, in the educational process, and familiarizing them with the challenges so they can be aware when using these applications.
