The study aimed to present a proposed scenario for developing appropriate critical reading skills for first-grade students in the intermediate stage, identifying the appropriate critical reading skills for them, and identifying their available critical reading skills. The study followed the descriptive approach. To achieve these goals, a list of critical reading skills consisting of four main skills It is (discrimination - conclusion - budgeting - evaluation and judgment), and 15 sub-skills fall under it. The researcher also prepared a test of critical reading skills, and the test was applied to a sample of (203) female students. And then analyzing the data and monitoring the results, the study concluded that the average scores of the students in critical reading skills ranged between 0.57 and 1.29. The average of the students in the total test total amounted to 14.38 of the total test score, which amounted to 30 degrees, with a percentage of 47.94%, which is less than 50 This means that there is a general weakness in the level of critical reading among the female students in the study sample and that they have a percentage that does not exceed 50%., And that it needs development, and the study presented a proposed conception to develop appropriate critical reading skills for first-grade intermediate students, and the study recommended paying attention to developing critical reading skills for middle school students, and benefiting from the proposed conception and the list of critical reading skills presented by the researcher in the study, and the critical reading test. Prepared by the researcher, the study suggested conducting a similar study on various educational stages and other skills. (Published abstract)
