تجربة أمريكا في تطوير مراكز ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة وإمكانية الاستفادة منها في الجامعات السعودية : دراسة مقارنة
The study is designed to recognize centers for persons with special needs in universities, by acknowledging the conceptual framework for it and its reality in the United States and avail of them in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and identifying the influential factors. The study reached some results, the most important: students with special needs are an inseparable part from the educational system in any university where it seeks to provide students with all their needs beginning from their enrollment till their graduation since it is expected and hoped from them to hold great responsibility in the future. So universities prepare students with special needs academically and get them ready for labor market, assigning them with many positions suitable for their needs which lightens the burden on the country and the society in which they live, and to enable persons with special needs to integrate and give them confidence in themselves and give society confidence in them. Moreover, the study results showed that students with disabilities in the university suffer from many administrative difficulties in registration procedures represented in lack of academic counseling, inappropriate procedures, and academic difficulties such as competition with normal students, doing exams and poor understanding of courses. The study provided some recommendations: university environment should be re prepared and organized to suit students with special needs. Special study halls should be equipped for them, in addition to amend some laws and legislations in a way that suits and meets their needs. (Published abstract)
