The purpose of the research was to identify the effectiveness of a proposed program in the history of Islamic religious sanctities supported by the augmented reality technology in developing religious awareness and some temporal and spatial thinking skills among preparatory school students in public education. To attain the purpose of the research, the researchers utilized both descriptive and experimental approaches (the one-group pretest posttest quasi-experimental design). Participants of the research comprised (n= 30) male and female students enrolled in second-year preparatory school students in public education. Instruments and materials of the research were a list of sacred Islamic religious places, a list of religious awareness, a list of temporal thinking skills, a list of spatial thinking skills, a student's book supported by augmented reality technology, a teacher's guide, a religious awareness scale, a temporal thinking skills test, and a spatial thinking skills test. Data was statistically analyzed using the SPSS program. The results revealed that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the treatment group in the pre/post-administrations favoring the post administration, which indicates the effectiveness of a proposed program in the history of Islamic religious sanctities based on the augmented reality technology in developing religious awareness and some temporal and spatial thinking skills among the research participants. Considering these results, the research revealed a number of recommendations and suggestions for further research. (Published abstract)
