University education plays an important role in preserving and strengthening the social fabric of Libyan society, by preparing students scientifically and socially practically in a way that serves the social reality of Libyan society., through shaping behavior, etiquette, public morals, identity and culture, as well as spreading the concepts of social peace, respect and acceptance of others, and not Exclusion, marginalization, and belonging to the cohesion of one society, such that it becomes difficult to engage in behaviors that lead to the destruction of the social fabric of society, especially at this stage and the political and social conflicts that society has gone through, which have exacerbated the divisions between the people of one nation and torn its social fabric. This research aims to identify the role of university education in preserving and strengthening the social fabric of society, and the extent of the impact of decisions issued to establishing universities independent of the long-established universities in Libyan society (University of Tripoli, Zawia University, Gharyan University, Sebha University, University of Misrata, University of Sirte, University of Benghazi. The descriptive approach was employed to achieve the research objectives by using the questionnaire form as a tool for collecting data. The research sample amounted to (120) students, and the most important results reached were: It is that most of the opinions of the sample members indicated the role of university education in preserving and strengthening the social fabric, and their rejection of the decisions of the Ministry of Higher Education regarding the establishment of universities independent of the established universities, including the Ministry of Higher Education Resolution No. (529) of 2018 AD, did not result in negative repercussions on The educational process and the cracks and disintegration of the bonds of the social fabric of Libyan society.
