تقويم جودة الحياة لدى المراهقين ذوي اضطراب طيف التوحد من وجهة نظر أولياء أمورهم في منطقة مكة المكرمة
This descriptive study aims to explore the quality of life among adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) from their parents' perspective in the holy Makkah region. It specifically examines the impact of various factors such as gender, severity of behavioral symptoms, and educational level on the quality of life. A tailored questionnaire with thirty-two items was utilized to measure multiple quality of life domains. This instrument was administered to eighty parents of adolescents with ASD. Data analysis was conducted using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS), revealing a moderate overall quality of life among these adolescents. Significant differences were noted in the quality-of-life scores based on the severity of behavioral symptoms, with milder symptoms correlating with higher quality of life. Educational level also showed significant differences, favoring those in middle school. However, no significant differences were observed in relation to gender. The study underscores the importance of enhancing services to improve the quality of life for adolescents with ASD. (Published abstract)
