the effect of using cake application on the seventh grade efl students’ speaking fluency in english language and their attitudes toward it
This research investigated the effect of using Cake application on EFL seventh-grade students’ Speaking fluency and their attitudes toward it. To achieve this goal, the participants of the study included 50 male and female students of the seventh grade at Aswar Al Quds Mixed Private School in Amman. The study was implemented in the first semester of the scholastic year 2023-2024. The participants were divided into two sections by the school administration. However, they were assigned randomly into two groups: The experimental group (25 students) and the control group (25 students). The experimental group was taught speaking fluency by using Cake application, while the control group was subjected to study speaking fluency using regular instruction by the same instructor. To collect data, the researcher designed a performance test of speaking fluency (a quasi-experimental design) pre and post-test, the researcher also used a questionnaire of 10 items as an instrument of this study to investigate the attitudes toward using Cake application. After two months, the post-test was conducted. The data were processed using SPSS software to examine if there were any statistically significance differences between the two groups in speaking fluency. The study revealed that: 1) There were post-test statistically significant differences at α≤ 0.05 between the mean scores of the two groups (the experimental group and the control group) in speaking and its aspects, in favor of the experimental group. 2) The experimental group had a positive attitude toward using Cake application in learning speaking and its aspects. The results of this study advised English language teachers to integrate Cake application into the English language curriculum. (Author’s abstract)
