The aim of the study is to develop the skills of understanding and appreciating the literary text among the third preparatory grade students through a program based on systematic reading. The researcher used the two methods: descriptive and experimental, to achieve the aim of the study The pre-test was applied to the two groups (experimental and control) the results showed that the levels of the third preparatory grade students in the skills of understanding and tasting the literary text were less than 50%.Through the application of the program based on systematic reading. The results showed the effectiveness of the program based on systematic reading in developing the skills of understanding and appreciating the literary text among the third preparatory grade students.
