The study aimed to identify the level of autonomy in children with special needs, in addition, to identify the possible differences between them in the level of autonomy according to the variables of sex and the nature of the handicap; The two researchers adopted the descriptive analytical approach and the autonomy questionnaire, where the study sample included fifty (50) children with special needs who underwent sessions with the speech-language pathologist at the public health establishment of near Sidi Lakhdar - Mostaganem- in the second half of the year 2021. The study achieved the following results: 1) The level of autonomy among children with special needs is high, 2) There are no statistically significant differences in the level of autonomy of children with special needs due to the sex variable, 3) There are differences due to the nature of the handicap in favor of people with a mild intellectual disability.
