This study aims to reveal the relationship between professional preferences and the skills needed to make decisions related to the choices of future professions among high school students, and the differences in this relationship according to the gender variables and academic specialization. In order to reach the desired goal and verify the hypotheses, we relied on the descriptive approach. Also, the professional preferences scale according to John Holland's classification, and the scale that measures the skill set of choosing future professions, were applied on a sample of high school students in Oran. We reached results that stated that there is an existence of correlation between professional preferences and levels of decision -making skills, and the study also showed that there are no differences in professional preferences and levels of decision -making skills attributable to gender variables and academic specialization.
