The study aimed to identify the extent to which public education in the State of Kuwait achieves the requirements of sustainable development. To achieve this goal, the descriptive survey method was applied, using a questionnaire consisting of 30 items distributed over three dimensions. The questionnaire was addressed to a random sample of 381 female teachers in the elementary, intermediate and secondary stages in the State of Kuwait. The results indicated the following: 1) The reality of employing public education in achieving the requirements of sustainable development in the State of Kuwait was neutral; 2) The most prominent challenges facing public education in the State of Kuwait to achieve the requirements of sustainable development came with high approval; and 3) The requirements for the application and participation of public education in the State of Kuwait to promote sustainable development came with high approval. Based on these results, the study presented a number of recommendations, the most prominent of which are: increasing the budgets allocated to education programs for the requirements of sustainable development by the Ministry of Education, and developing long-term educational plans that are compatible with the requirements of sustainable development by educational planners.
