Recent technological developments, particularly artificial intelligence, are significantly influencing various fields, especially higher education. Education is undergoing a radical transformation, moving away from traditional methods that focus solely on rote learning, and there is an urgent need for flexible strategies that enhance students' abilities and help them achieve independence in learning. This study aims to explore the impact of artificial intelligence on self-learning strategies, examining how AI techniques can be applied to improve the learning experience and enhance students' self-directed aspects. Higher education is a critical stage in shaping students' academic identities, requiring them to develop selflearning skills to adapt to the demands of the modern era. As students face increasing challenges in a learning environment characterized by diverse sources and information, it becomes essential to enhance their selflearning capabilities. In this context, artificial intelligence plays a vital role by providing innovative tools and applications that facilitate the learning process. For instance, AI systems can offer personalized recommendations to students regarding content that aligns with their understanding levels and academic goals, thereby helping to improve the quality of learning. This study requires an analysis of the increasing importance of self-directed learning in light of rapid technological innovations. In this era, students need to be active learners, capable of effectively managing their time and resources. Research has shown that self-directed learning enhances academic achievement and increases student motivation. Therefore, integrating artificial intelligence techniques into self-directed learning strategies can have a positive impact not only on academic outcomes but also on the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. This study is based on a range of research methodologies, including surveys and interviews. Collaboration has taken place with several universities that adopt artificial intelligence technologies in their educational programs, where the opinions of students and faculty regarding the effectiveness of these technologies in enhancing the self-directed learning experience were surveyed. Preliminary results indicated a general consensus that the use of artificial intelligence helps students create a more personalized and suitable learning environment for their individual needs. Furthermore, this study reviews some practical applications of artificial intelligence, such as intelligent learning systems that interact with students and provide them with immediate support throughout their educational journey. These applications are considered important tools in enhancing the interaction between teachers and students, contributing to a better understanding of the course content and deepening the academic experience. In conclusion, this study presents several recommendations aimed at promoting the integration of artificial intelligence into self-directed learning strategies. It is essential for universities to adopt effective training policies for both faculty and students to maximize the benefits of these modern technologies. Additionally, further research is required to evaluate the effectiveness of these applications and to gather the necessary data to enhance self-directed learning strategies in educational institutions. The relationship between artificial intelligence and self-directed learning represents a golden opportunity to transform higher education into a more dynamic and creative experience. Thanks to technological innovations, students today can become independent learners, empowered by their individual capabilities, enabling them to better face the challenges of the future.
