فاعلية دمج تطبيقات الذّكاء الاصطناعيّ في تطوير مهارات البحث العلميّ لدى طلبة المرحلة الجامعيّة
The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of integrating artificial intelligence applications in developing scientific research skills among university students. The quasi-experimental method was used with the participation of 20 male and female students specializing in Educational Technology at Arab Open University in Jordan. They were purposefully selected. To achieve the study's objective, the verbal assessment scale (Rubric) of the Internet Applications in Education (ED636) course, designed by Arab Open University, was used to measure the development of scientific research skills. This was followed by presenting open-ended questions to a sample of 6 participants to understand the nature of the research skills that have developed and the role of artificial intelligence applications in that, as well as to identify the main challenges they faced. The results showed statistically significant differences at a significance level (α=0.05) between the average scores of students in the pre-evaluation (before using artificial intelligence applications in academic writing) and the post-evaluation (after using artificial intelligence applications in academic writing). The results also indicated that students used artificial intelligence applications in a way that enhanced their research skills, as evidenced by their responses to open-ended questions, which demonstrated a positive interaction with the artificial intelligence application (Bearly.ai) during its use in writing research reports. The results further revealed that students encountered some challenges while using the artificial intelligence application (Bearly.ai), including word limit limitations, difficulties in accurately inputting commands to obtain desired results, and lack of reliability in the suggested sources. Based on these results, the following recommendations were made: providing more applications and tools that integrate artificial intelligence in the process of developing students' scientific research skills, encouraging students to use artificial intelligence applications in scientific research and enhance their skills through providing training courses or practical workshops, integrating artificial intelligence applications into university curricula, and promoting collaboration and participation among students in the use of artificial intelligence applications.
